THE PRESS DELEGATES.

THEIR VISIT TO GLASGOW

London, June 21

The Press delegates are the guests of the Glasgow Corporation. They inspected the North British Locomotive Works, employing 8000 hands, and then joined the ladies on a steamer trip up the Clyde, the Lord Provost and many Glasgow notabilities being aboard. They visited the Fairfield yard, where the Australians boarded the Australian destroyer. Standing on its keel, they cheered the future Australian navy. Continuing the cruise, the delegates then viewed the Clyde Yachting Carnival at Rothesay. At the University in the afternoon the Vice-Chancellor conferred degrees on six delegates who were attired in scarlet robes. The Marquis of Bute, in the presence of a large gathering, referred to the degrees as a tribute rendered to the British press throughout the world. Mr J. A, MacDonald (Canada) thanked the University for the honour.

In the evening a Corporation dinner was held in the City Chambers.

The delegates after visiting the Trossachs, proceeded to Edinburgh.
