Monthly Meeting.

(By Telegraph—Specieal to Hekaed.) Wanganui, This Day.

The ordinary meeting of the above was held last night. Present :—Messrs Pirani (chairman), Aldridge, Bennett, Cargill, Dixon, Purnell.

Appointments: A. Stewart, Hawera ; M. Howell, Mt. View ; J. W. Buchler, Coal Creek. Resignations :M. Fossey, Feilding Technical School; E. Chadwick, Matorimua; M. Cameron, Dongburn; M Synott, Kaponga; C. A. O’Connor, Taoroa.

Deave of absence, —C. Henry, 10 days ; M. Dyuch, 12 months; W. Browning, 2 weeks ; E- C. J. Knight, 2 weeks; S. Jones, 3 weeks; W Gilman, 1 month ; J. Flyger, 1 month. The question of temperance lessons in schools was left with the Chief Inspector. Palmerston Show. —The question of closing certain schools was relegated to the Chief Inspector, who is to circularise the schools affected.

Himitangi—Resolved to inform them they must not pay for picnics out of capitation. Mr Easther, Truant Inspector, who reaches the retiring age next month, to be notified that he may retain position till end of the year.

Moutoa —Committee to be informed that Board has no funds for school libraries and granting a chimney pot for residence. Manager Bank New Zealand wrote about Board’s overdraft which is 8s id.—Reply to be sent stating that 5s 6d was due the Board from the Government, and it was decided to wire Messrs Guthrie, Hogan and Newman M.P’s. on the subject. Resolved to make application to the Education Department for for new infant school in Wanganui. Rongotea —Committee to be informed that Board will not remove gallery but will supply desks when same has been taken out by committee.

Accounts amounting to ,£3253 3s sd were passed for payment and the Board adjourned till 30th Jun;.
