INFORMAL MEETING OF PARLIAMENT.
PRIME MINISTER TO GO HOME.
PARLIAMENT WILL ADJOURN.
The informal meeting of Parliament, convened by the Premier, for the purpose of discussing representation at the Naval Conference and postponing of the session was held at Wellington yesterday. A resolution to the effect that the Prime Minister should be New Zealand’s representative at the Conference was carried with one dissentient voice.
An amendment was moved by Mr Allen to the resolution for the adjournment of the session to the following effect: “That this meeting, being of opinion that important business, which does not admit of delay, awaits the consideration of the Legislature, deems it advisable that the work of Parliament should proceed without interruption.”
Upon a division being taken, the voting was as under : For the motion (45) Messrs Arnold, Baume, Brown, Buddo, Buxton, Carroll, Clark, Colvin, Craigie, Davey, Dillon, T. Duncan, Ell, Field, Forbes, Fowlds, Graham, Greenslade, Guinness, Hall, Hanan Hogan, Hogg, Jennings, Eaurenson, Xawry, Macdonald, R. M’Kenzie, T. Mackenzie, J. A. Millar, Ngata, Parata, Poland, Poole, Reed, Ross, Russell, Sidey, Seddon, Stallworthy, E. H. Taylor, Dr. Buck, J. C. Thomson, Ward, Wilford. For the amendment (30) — Messrs Allen, Anderson, Bollard, Buchanan, Buick, Dive, J.
