MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council, it was decided to levy the following general rates: Sandon riding %d in the £1 ; producing 6s 6d ; Mt. Stewart, 24d, .£703 9s 8d; Waltohi, 3*sd, £598 2s nd; Rongotea, i>tjd, is id; Carnarvon, f6d, 8s id; Kawakawa, i>6d, ,£ll3l 16s lod ; Awahou, %d,£loß 9s lod; Whirokino, fyd, £220 2B lod. Special rates were struck as follows: Mt. Stewart, ykd, £lls nsßd; Waitohi, }id, £9B 19s 2d ; Carnarvon, i-sod, ns id; Whirokino, ]£d £i%, 19s 2d. Rates in the special rating districts are the same as last year. The total rates amount to £7176 ss, as against os 3d last year, a net increase of 3s gd. The tramway receipts were estimated at and the expenditure, including new engine and ,£IOO for new rails, ,£4OOO.
