BOROUGH FINANCES.
At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council the Treasurer reported that since the last monthly meeting the sum of os 6d had been paid into the district fund account, the balance of the said account now being ,£219 8s lod to credit. The balances of the various separate accounts are as follows: —General account 12s (debit), library £2 xgs nd (debit), reserves ,£lls 6s (credit), ceme-i-ery £l2 12s (credit), sanitation £62 8s (debit), interest os 5d (credit). In the Treasurers annual estimate of receipts and expenditure to be laid before the Council shortly, it will be noticed that provision has been made for formation of footpaths and cost of reports of water and drainage schemes. The total required rates to be levied this year will be three and a-half, as against three and three-quarters last year, owing to the fact that the reduction on special rates considerably exceeds the small increase on the general rate, necessary to provide for the above.
