WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.
(By Telechiai'h— Special to Heualb. Wanganui, This Day. The monthly meeting ot the Wanganui Education Board was , held last night. Present: —Messrs Pirani (chairman), Bennett, Cargill, I Dixon, Fraser, Guthrie and Purnell. Leave of absence was granted to ! Mr Aldridge. Resignations:—A, S. Siddells, Queen’s Park ; L- MacKellar, Kakaramea, Appointments : —-Miss Anthony, Kaukatea ; M. H. Murray, Kohi; C. MacKonnochie, Mangouoho ; Miss Bruce, . Taihape; Miss Staples, Beaconsfield; A. W. Thompson, Ohakune; J. Small, Taihape. Leave of absence was granted to H, Buchanan, Mangaweka; M. E. Camron, Valley Road ; F. A. O’Connor, Taoroa. Resolved that during session the Board will meet on Mondays instead of Wednesdays. The Education Department wrote refusing grants for schools at Mount Stewart and Makawhai. It was decided on the motion of Mr Fraser to pay half cost of levelling school grounds, also for repairs to windows at Moutoa and dual desks to be sent to replace old [ long ones. | It was decided that the Foxtou Committee to be informed that the late appointment of assistant was made by transfer, and the Board cannot reconsider the matter. The Hawera Committee election was declared void owing to P. O’Dea having been elected and receiving a large number of votes while he had not resided in the , district three months. , The Bulls Committee wrote , asking for increased paddock ac- - commodation for horses, and en- , closed offer from local residents for ten years lease of a paddock.—The ; Board agreed to lease same pro- \ viding the committee pay for fenc- ; ing.
Accounts amounting to 6s id were passed for payment and the Board adjourned till Wednesday the 26th May.
