MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
The monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held before Mr A. D. Thomson S.M. yesterday. The following persons were fined for failing to send their children to school the number of times required by the Act: A. Kruse, two charges, fined 2s on each charge ; F. de Ridder, 2s ;aud Jas. Borland, two charges, 2s each charge with costs 7s ; and Thos. Mitchell, two charges, convicted on the first and fined 2s on the second, Thomas Mitchell was charged on the information of the police with being found in possession of liquor during the currency of a prohibition order- He pleaded guilty and was fined 5s with costs 7 s - Judgment for plaintiffs was entered up in the following undefended cases :—W-F. Gray v. L,. C. Stansell, claim 4s 3d, costs £2 2s 3d ; George Wright v. Charles Webb, £1 ss, costs 5s ; G. T. Woodroofe v. Jas. Walden, £2 14s gd, costs 10s; M. H. Walker v. Cbas. Hargreaves, £4 is Bd, costs £1 3s ; Southern Sales Co. Ltd. v. Mrs A. Cave, 6d, costs 7s.
In the case E. J. Covcuey v, Mrs B. Cochrane, claim £4. is and possession of houses, judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs £1 5s 6d, and possession to be given within three davs.
The Southern Sales Co. Ltd., sued F. Lucinsky to recover the sum of £r 7* fid, and after hearing defendant’s evidence, judgment was entered up for the amount claimed with costs 16s. In the case of E- Ball v. S, Feek, claim 5s qd, evidence was given by the plaintiff and defendant after hearing which the Magistrate gave judgment for defendant without costs.
