OBITUARY.
A. SEABURY—Aged 72. Old residents will regret to hear that another old landmark has passed away in the person of expilot Seabury. The dissolution took place after a brief illness on Sunday night. The immediate cause of death was pneumonia and typhoid fever. The deceased was born in Upsala, Sweden, and when ten years of age left his native country for America, where some time later he joined the American Navy in which he served until the Indian Mutiny broke out. He served throughout the Indian Mutiny and afterwards followed the sea for some time. He lauded in Wellington about 48 years ago and after spending about two years on the coastal vessels was appointed assistant pilot at Wanganui. He filled that position for seven years and was subsequently appointed by the Governor as head pilot at Foxton, which position he held tor 33 years, when he retired six years ago, and since then has resided in Foxton. He leaves a widow and adopted daughter to mourn their loss. The internuent took place this afternoon.
