THE HEMP INDUSTRY.
A PATENT STRIPPER
A trial of an improved and patent stripper was made at one of Mr O. E. Austin’s local mills on Saturday last. It was at Mr Petrie’s (Government grader) suggestion that the'trial took place, although Mr Petrie is in no way connected with the patent, but he is anxious at all times to assist millers by bringing under their notice patents and methods which have for their object an improved product. The stripper in question is an entirely different one to those in use at the local mills. It is claimed that it will be easier to work, and that the risk of bruising fibre will be reduced to a minimum. Tails which are now so noticeable in the hanks will also be reduced to about three inches. Mr Petrie expresses the opinion that when the machine is properly installed, it will do all that is claimed for it.
