DEATH OF MR JOHN McCULLOCH.
On Sunday morning, Mr John McCulloch, Clerk to the Horowhenua County, who had been in indifferent health for many months, and who of late had been confined to his bed, passed away at his residence in Salisbury-street, Levin. He resided in Foxton 32 years ago. At that time he acted as Clerk to the Manawatu County Council. When the Horowhenua County was formed in 1887, the office of the Council was located at Otaki for many years, and the deceased carried out the duties of County Clerk there. When the offices were removed to Levin he took up his residence there, and was still County Clerk up to the time of his death. Thirty-two years of his life were spent in county work, and he never missed a single meeting all the time he acted as clerk, which certainly is a record worth chronicling, and during that period he was only absent a fortnight through illhealth. He will be accorded a Masonic funeral to-day.
