Thursday Island, Feb 25
The Mackay Papuan exploring party has returned. It found good agricultural lands. The natives inland were unfriendly, and frequently fired arrows at the party. One native boy was killed and three wounded. Fortunately the natives were bad shots. The party is applying for rights in connectian with a coal find.
