MR CLEMENT L. WRAGGE.

Although it is some five years since Mr Clement ly. Wragge, the renowned astronomer, meteorologist and traveller, gave his series of scientific entertainments in New Zealand, very many people will have lively recollections of the great interest displayed in his discourses by all classes and grades of society. Mr Wragge has lately visited India, and created while there what might quite justly be termed a “furore.” The Indian Daily Telegraph remarks as follows : “It will he remembered that when Professor Wragge, that extremely clever and versatile scientist, was here last year, we were in the throes of a drought. Professor Wragge, who is a firm believer in the sun-spots theory, told us that the monsoon period of 1908 would be a good one, and that in some parts ot India there would be floods. We have had a good monsoon and the recent floods in Plyderabad have corroborated the Professor’s prediction. One local wiseacre, while demolishing Professor Wragge’s arguments, elaborated a profound theory of his own, the gist of which was that the monsoon of 1908 would be a very inferior one. Needless to say, the would-be prophet rode for a fall. Professor Wragge can afford to smile.” Mr Wragge, who appears at the Public Hall, Foxton, next Thursday night, will take for his subject “ The Majesty of Creation,” and it is confidently expected that the popular prices being charged will induce a large number of people to go and be instructed, interested, and amused, at one and the same time. Mr Wragge is due to appear at Shannon on February 22nd,
