LONDON WOOL SALES.
Dalgety and Company, limited, report having received the following cable messages from their London House under date of the 6th instant 1 “ Wools sales closed firm. As compared with the closing rates of last series scoured merino wools of good quality and condition are par to 5 per cent, lower and faulty wools of the same class are unchanged. Greasy merino wools are also unchanged. Fine quality crossbreds are 5 per cent, higher, bright medium crossbreds being 5 to 7? per cent, higher. Coarse crossbred wools are par to 5 per cent higher, and lambs wool 5 per cent, higher. The total net quantity available for sale amounted to 201,000 bales, of which quauity 12,000 bales were sold for America, 92.000 for Home consumption and 88.000 for the Continent, leaving 9000 to be carried forward to the next series.” London, February 7.
The wool sales have closed. There was a strong demand for most sorts, ft .the highest level of the series. •
In ehoiece 70’s, Meririo equalled the London prices of January of last year; 64’s, suitable for America, were at a penny below the November rates, There was strong and steady competition for average combings for the Home trade and the Continent at full December rates.
Topmakers’ crossbreds were firm at December rates. Parcels suitable for America showed iu per cent advance on the December rates. „ 1
During the series 93,000 bales were sold for the Home market, 88,000 for the Continent, 12,000 for America, 8000 being held over. The wool sales include the Opou clip, at B}(d, and the Hakowhae clip at io^d.
