LABOUR TROUBLES.
Sydney, January 15
The Block 10 miue closed down at midnight, since when it has been closely picketed. Over 600 employees are unemployed. A number of mining officials and a posse of police remain in charge of the mine.
No attempt has been made to repair the damage to the water-pipe caused by the explosion last night. Plumbers and other workmen decline to tackle the job, fearing to be placed on the black list. The Miners’ Executive deprecate such actions, and are trying all means possible to discourage acts of violence and the destruction of property. They blame irresponsible persons who are not good unionists at heart.
There are over 300 police at Bffokeu Hill.
While searching in the vicinity of the last explosion, another bomb, fully charged, with a twelve-inch fuse attached, was found.
It is rumoured that some other mines intend to close down very shortly.
