At the December meeting of the Horowhenua County Council Cr Venn cast some serious reflections upon the district noxious weeds and rabbit inspector. After reading Cr Venn’s statements our representative waited upon Mr Walton, the district inspector, and asked him whether there was any justification for Cr Venn’s remarks. While expressing surprise, Mr Walton said the Department would not allow him to discuss the subject which he led us to believe was absolutely untrue so far as he was concerned. He said he had never met Cr Venn and in his opinion Cr Venn had been imposed upon by some individual passing himself off as an inspector.
