There be some politicians—and even some newspaper editors—who go on turning the party grindstone right up to the verge of Christmas, says the Masterton Times. They don’t seem to see that the people at this festive season of the year don’t want to talk about Sir Joseph Ward or Mr Massey and their respective followers, They want to get away from the recent overdose of speeches which they endured prior to the 17th of November. They did not bargain for an aftermath of speeches in December. There should be a close season at Christmas time for politicians. We don’t need any more polF’cal funcHons from either party at the present hour. They are doubtless ail of them fine fellows, but New Zealand, for the time being, is fairly tired of them, and would like to turn the hose on them to cool their superabundant ardour, / ,
