ELECTION AFTERMATH.
Petition by Mr Barclay.
Dunkuin, Dec. 21
The latest phase in the recent Duuediu North Parliamentary recount is that Mr A. R. Barclay today decided to proceed by election
■ Mr Barclay states the issue is narrowed down to three questions. 1. Was the returning officer justified in striking off votes for Barclay ou the ground of dual voting ?
2. Was Barclay entitled to one or more votes which were treated as informal ?
3. Was it right to accept absent voters’ vote for Thomson, and reject one for Barclay ? The petition is filed on the basis of the number of votes recorded being the same as was found by the returning officer on the official re-count. The question of the missing votes arises in no way. Under the Act a special Court of two judges has to be appointed by a Chief Justice to hear the petition.
