Gisboene, December 17. Harold C. Phillips was charged at the Police Court this- morning with the theft of £6l worth of jewellery, entrusted ;to him by a local jeweller, who appointed him to travel the district.- Accused was remanded till December 22. Auckland, Dec. 16. At the Police Court to-day John W. Robinson, chemist, was prosecuted by the labour Department on a charge of haying employed a boy and paid him less than 5s per week. It was stated that the defendant employed, a school boy at the rate of is 6d per week to call once every evening for the purpose of going any messages that might be required. The boy was not employed in the shop, and did nothing but make the call for messages. His Worship said the boy was employed by the defendant in connection with his business at a weekly wage of is 6d. The defendant was convicted and fined 5s and costs. ,
