PRESENTATION.

At the Public Hall yesterday afternoon the Rev. Father Schaffer, who was for a time assistant-priest in this parish, and who was the prime mover for the erection of the handsome presbytery in Cook Street, was entertained by the local members of his congregation at afternoon tea. He was subsequently made the recipient of a beautifully worked and jewelled stole, and surplice fringed with Houiton lace. Mr P. Henuessy made the presentation, and referred to the good work done by Father Schaffer during his connection with the parish. Mr E. J. Spelmau also spoke in reference to the rev. gentleman’s interest in the young people. Father Schaeffer, in acknowledging the gifts, referred to the hospitality of Mr Levett and Mr Henuessy. The proceedings were of an extremely sociable and enjoyable nature, and concluded with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
