FOXTON RACING CLUB.
A meeting of stewards of the above Club was held last night. Present: Messrs F. E. Jenks
(chairman), C. and O. Robinson, C. Hunt, W. Barber’, W. Howan, -O. Austin and the secretary (A. Keith.* The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.—The action of the Secretary and Treasurer was endorsed re payment of rent and levy. Correspondence was read from the Metropolitan Club asking the Club to express an opinion in reference to the appointment of stipendiary stewards in order to watch the performances of horses, and to prevent < * crook ” running. A lengthy discussion ensued and subsequently Mr Hunt moved and Mr Howan seconded, that the Secretary be instructed to reply to the Wanganui Jockey Club re stipendiary steward, stating that this Club is in sympathy with the
movement, but, considers that it is a matter for the Racing Conference to take up, before district clubs are asked for an opinion.—The resolution was carried. —A progress payment of £4O was authorised to be paid to Mr Rimmer, and the meeting rose.
