THE MAIN TRUNK LINE.

Trains will make the complete Main Trunk journey regularly from November 2. Since the ballasting of a considerable part ot the central section is not sufficiently complete to allow a heavy express train to pass over it at a high speed, the through journey will occupy two days at first, though it is highly probable that by Christmas the twenty-hour schedule between Wellington and Auckland can be adopted.; The passengers from Wellington will leave by the New Plymouth express at 8 a.m., will change at Marton Junction, and arrive about 8. p.m. at Ohakune. The journey will be resumed at 6 a.m., and the train will make a connection with the Rotorua-Auckland expiess at Fraukton Junction, reaching the Northern city about 5 p.m. Passengers fiom Auckland will leave at 10 a.m., by the Rotorua express, change at Frankton Junction and reach Taumarunui that evening. Next morning resume the journey at 6 o’clock, traverse the interesting central section in broad daylight, and arrive at Marton Junction just in time to connect with the Wellingtonbound express. Under the existing timetable, there is a lengthy wait at Marton Junction, but the train from £he Main Trunk will run to a revised time-table much more convenient for through travellers.
