The Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1908. NO-LICENSE

The no-liceuse campaign has commenced in earnest in the Mauawatu, and various leagues throughout the electorate are working towards their objective at the forthcoming poll. We hope that the 110-license campaign will be conducted without recourse to personal abuse of those connected with the trade. It must be remembered that the publican is plying a legalised calling. So far as this journal is concerned, a certain space will be set aside for each in order to state their cases. Our own views on this reform question are well known to our readers and we do not think it necessary “ to be continually rubbing it in.” We hope the feeling which now exists will continue throughout the campaign.
