MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.

A special meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs B. G. Gower (chairman), W. Barber, H. G. Hammond, J. Symons, and F. S. Easton. The clerk read correspondence re loan. From Treasury stating that the consent signed by ratepayers in respect of loan appeared to be in order.

The special order making special rate was passed and ordered to be advertised, and will be presented for confirmation at a special meeting to be held on Tuesday, 29th September, at 8 p.m. Correspondence was received from the Manawatu County Council stating requirements for alterations to bridge, with which it was agreed to comply. From the Board’s engineer, Mr Ward, notifying that the contractor had his machinery ready and expected to start work at an early date.

From Manawatu Land Drainage Commission, with extracts from Gazette covering course of proposed procedure, and notifying local authorities could appoint representatives. This was fully discussed, and the chairman (Mr B. G. Gower) was appointed to represent the Board. An account ot £3 4s, in favour of Thompson Bros., for wharfage on timber, was passed for payment. The next meeting was fixed for Friday, 4th September, at 8 p.m.
