HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A well - attended meeting of members of the above was held in the Secretary’s office on Tuesday night. Mr A. Speirs, vicepresident, occupied the chair. Rule 4 was altered to read that the Society’s financial year shall commence on the xst day of January in each year, and subscriptions shall be payable in advance on and after that date in each year. Rule 5 was altered to read: “ There shall be an annual general meeting of the members of the association held in the month of January.” Proposed by the Secretary, and seconded by Miss Symons, that the certificate of merit be designed after the following description; size i2xio, to contain a view of the Manawatu River, a flax bush, groups of fowls and dogs, flowers and vegetables, bale of hemp and twine. A committee consisting of Messrs T. Nye, Woods, and the Secretary, was appointed to supervise the designing and printing. It was proposed by the Secretary, and seconded by Mr Woods, ThaU all poultry, dogs, and other animals be shown, be on the ground not later than 10 a.m. It waa-dedded that any exhibit not catalogue will receive'a certificate of merit if the judges think.it worthy. It was decided to let all the available surplus space to Messrs Wrighton for exhibition purposes at the forthcoming show. It was decided to include guessing competitions at the show. Other matters were discussed, and the meeting adjourned.
