WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

Ordinary Meeting. By Telegraph—Special to Herald, Wanganui, This Day. The ordinary meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held last night. Present: Messrs F. Pirani (Chairman), Aldridge, Bennett, Cargill, Dixon, Fraser, Guthrie, Purnell, and Spurdie. On the motion of Messrs Dixon and Fraser, Mr Pirani was reelected Chairman of the Education Board and Board of Governors of Girls’ College. Appointments : —Miss Scheldt, Rongotea ; J. Patterson, Nikau ; M. S. Fox, Kelvin Grove; H. Jackson, Waipuru. Resignations; C. Bradwell, Pukukuhu ;- J. Gibbons, Ngamatapouri. Terrace End improvements were left in the hands of Mr Bennett.

Mr Baker, of Foxton, was granted a transfer to Feilding District High School. Leave of absence Johansen, Tokarangi; Thurston, Taihape ; York, Hunterville ; Symes, Apiti; Hill, Feilding; Siddells, Queen’s Park ; Flyger, Ohakune ; Gibbons, Ngamatapouri; and Adams, Foxton.

Rongotea—Repairs to teacher’s residence. Left in the hands of Mr Fraser.

It was decided to send dual desks to replace old long ones. The concrete path round the new school at Foxton was left in the hands of Mr Fraser. Carnarvon committee was granted four pounds lor drainage. A grant of was made to the College Street School towards the improvements in the school grounds. Sanson was granted for fencing school gardens. New committees for Board work were appointed as follows :—Finance : Messrs Pirani, Bennett, Fraser and Purnell; repairs : Messrs Pirani, Fraser, Guthrie, Bennett and Aldridge; buildings: Messrs Pirani, Purnell, Dixon and Spurdie ; selection and technical: the whole Board.

Mr Fraser brought up the question of fence at the teacher’s residence at Foxton, and was authorised to get the work done.
