THE LOAN PROPOSAL.
Poll Authorised.
A meeting of ratepa3'ers was held in the Council Chambers last evening, for the purpose of considering the proposal to borrow ,£3OO for the purpose of forming and metalling certain streets. His Worship the Mayor (B. G. Gower, , Esq.,) presided, and read the verlisemcnt convening the meet- ■ ing. After a brief discussion, the the following resolution, proposed by Mr Hennessy, and seconded by Mr Stiles, was carried : —That His Worship the Mayor be requested to take a poll upon the proposal.— The usual vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
