PROPOSED FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

Resolution Passed by the Fiaxmiils Employees’ Union. The Minister’s Reply. At a recent meeting of the Manawatu Fiaxmiils Employees’ Union, the following resolution was passed in reference to the proposed Foxton Harbour Board : “That this meeting confirm the justice of the Government handing over to the proposed Foxton Harbour Board the revenue now accruing through the medium of the wharf ; in asking that the Government accede to the above request, we may state that the amount of wages circulated by shipping during the hemp industry’s slack season, is a considerable help to the members of this Union.” The resolution was forwarded by the Secretary of the Union to the Minister of Marine, who has replied, stating that the question will receive the careful tion of the Government. A meeting of the Palmerston Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon, when the Harbour Board Bill to be presented to Parliament, was discussed. Mr P. J. Hennessy, President of local Chamber, was in attendance A resolution was passed approving the Bill, and urging the Government to pass same.
