FOOTBALL.
Auckland, Monday,
In the third and final test, the Anglo-Welshmen were outclassed in a memorable match, played at Alexandra Park yesterday. The weather was dull and threatening and a heavy shower occurred in the second half. The attendance was about 15,000, the increased tariff keeping away many who otherwise would have attended. The playing area was in fairly good order, considering the recent rainy weather. Britain was outclassed from the start, and never at any time threatened the AllBlacks’ line. The game resulted New Zealand 29, Britain nil. Record to Date.
Wanganui v. Manawatu. Wanganui, Monday. In the Wanganui and Mauawatu match, Wanganui had a weak team, seven or eight of those who played against the Englishmen being absent. Manawatu also, were not strong, and the result was one of the poorest representative displays seen here. For the greater part of the time the ball was either in touch or in a scrum. Some flashes of good play were seen, but they were few and far between. Manawatu had the better of the game and won by 16 to 9. The takings at the test match on Saturday were /1004, or ,£2OO less than the previous Saturday, notwithstanding the double charge and one auxiliary stand. Otago defeated Wairarapa at Dunedin on Saturday, easily by 22 points to 8. The weather was splendid, and the ground in fine condition. About 7000 attended.
