In the case of murder against Connelly no evidence was offered, and the charge was dismissed. The perjury charge, thirteen counts, was then proceeded with. O. E. Bowling, Clerk of the Court, deposed that Connelly’s demeanour in the witness box on the occasions was similar to that of a person telling wilful lies. He hesitated and appeared to be on his guard all the time. Hugh Duncan, who found ’ Bourke in a dying condition, said his dog barked as if some other person besides Bourke were in the shed.

The Court adjourned till Monday, when the prisoners, Anderson and Hallinen, will give evidence.
