OUR NAVY.
London, July 8. The Times says that unless Mr McKenna (First Lord of the Admiralty) is able to assure the House that the naval discussion was greatly, exaggerated, and that there is no disunion in the navy, he is bound to apply a drastic remedy, regardless of individual personal susceptibilities. In other words, Lord Charles Beresford : must submit or resign. His paramount duty was to act as a shining example of discipline and subordination to the constituted authority. The Standard states Lord Charles Beresford inquired why Sit Percy Scott disobeyed his signal and was informed that it might have been dangerous. Lord Charles Beresford signalled “Quite correct to disobey.” It is generally hoped this incident will lead to a reconciliation between the two Admirals and thus terminate a naval scandal.
