PARLIAMENT.
Wellington, July 7. The Meikle Acquittal Bill and Incorporated Societies Bill passed through committee. In the New Zealand Society of Accountants Bill, the number of years an accountant shall be 'in business before being entitled to be registered, was reduced from five to three years. An amendment providing for leave to appeal against the Board’s decisions was carried. The Bill was still under discussion at the 5.30 adjournment. The New Zealand Accountants BjU was passed through Committee. The Coroners Amendment Bill was committed. The Hon. Mr McGowan said he had been asked why fines on jurymen should be abolished. To his mind it would be a good thing if juries, and for the matter of that inquests too, were abolished, as in many instances the latter caused a good deal of heart-burning among friends as perhaps there were no circumstances in the case beyond the fact that it was a sudden death. The House adjourned at 9.50 p.m.
