FOOTBALL.
London, June 25
The Rugby Union Committee, after an inquiry into the allegations of professionalism, decided to suspend F. Jackson from further participation in the tour of the British team and to recall him by cablegram. Wellington, June 25.
Seen by a Post representative regarding the suspension of Jacksou, both Messrs Harnett (manager) and Harding (captain), state that they had no knowledge of the allegations made, but that the direction of the Union will be carried out and Jackson will not play in any of the remaining matches of the tour.
The Management Committee of the N.R. Rugby Union has agreed to the Rotorua Sub-Union arranging a match agaiast the Britishers, the. Rotorua team to be composed wholly of Maoris. The match is to be an informal one, the N.Z. Union taking no financial responsibility. The following referees have been appointed for matches against the Britishers :—Hawke’s Bay, S. Orchard, of Canterbury : Manawatu, E. McKenzie, of Wairarapa; Wanganui, Rev. C. C. Harper, of Palmerston; Taranaki, A. B. Charters, ot Carterton.
