PROPOSED HARBOUR BOARD.
Mr P. J. Hennessy received the following letter from Mr J. B. Gilberd, of Wanganui, with regard to the Wanganui Harbour Board’s position as to rating ; “June 18/08. —Re jmur inquiry about the Harbour Board striking a rate in Wanganui, I saw the Secretary this morning aud he informed me that they do not strike any rate whatever, as they have no power to do so, their only source of income being the wharfages collected.’’
