The two Wellington morning journals have settled their libel action, without the necessity for a “ washing up.” When the case was called on at the Supreme Court, yesterday, Dr. Findlay, for defendants, said his clients admit-

ted that a ceitain document said to have been improperly obtained by the Dominion, was quite properly obtained and the words published by defendants were not intended to cast any reflection upon the conduct of the plaintiff Mr C. Earle, either in his editorial capacity or otherwise, or upon any member of his staff. Mr Skerrett, for plaintiff, said that, in view of this statement his client would not proceed with the action, which was accordingly struck out.
