Thames, June 8
While working in a stope of the Kerikeri mine, near Thames, Thos. Hendersen, miner, was killed, and Robert Cato seriously injured by a fall of quartz. The men had fired a shot the previous crib time. After the meal they returned to the face. Henderson was stooping over when the fall struck his back, breaking it, and crushing his ribs. He was killed instantly. Cato was injured abojit the head, and is now in the hospital.
