The results of the senior matches at Wellington were as follows : Oriental n, Petone 8, Melrose 30, Southern 3 ; Athletic 3, Victoria College o ; Wellington 6, Old Boys o ; Poneke 6, St. James 3At Palmerston the Hankins Shield competition commenced Kia Toa and Palmerston North meeting under ideal conditions. In the first spell Palmerston secured a lead of three points, and maintained the same till twenty minutes lx fore the call of time,, when the Kia Toa backs opened the game and put on elven points. At Masterton, Masterlondefeated Red Stars by 13 points to 3. No matches played in Foxton.
