AN ABSCONDING BANKRUPT.

Wellington, May 4. The first meeting of creditors in the estate of A. E. Elliott, land and estate agent, took place to-day. A preliminary statement, prepared by an accountant, showed the net deficiency to be ,£10,135123 sd. The secured creditors have debts totaling £8,150. Estimated securities valued at £9,825. Most of the unsecured creditors were persons who managed to get together small savings. The amount of debts in most cases run between £IOO and £250. The creditors decided to take steps to have Elliott brought back from Sydney, whither it is believed he has gone. The case has created some sensation locally.
