A Dane named Knudsen demonstrated at the Hotel Cecil the efficacy of a machine for transmitting pictures by any “ wireless ” system. Reuter’s correspondent at Tangier states that the report that Raisuli has been assassinated is untrue. Later reports show that men in ambush fired upon Raisuli, who managed to escape upon horseback. Melbourne, April 30. The Premiers’ Conference resolved in favour of the abolition of the stamp duties on all colonial securities, and that joint action is desirable to regulate the Australian Stock Exchange when dealing in Government securities. New York, April 29. _ After forging a deed to obtain possession of their victim’s bouse at Waterton, New York, a septuagenarian couple named Farmer lured a Mrs. Brennan into the house, and killed her with an axe, which the wife wielded. They afterwards transferred the body to a trunk in the deceased’s house, of which they took possession. The Farmers were arrested and confessed. Suva, April 29. The American fleet has accepted ail invitation to visit Fiji. Svdnkv, April 30. The Labour Congress carried an emphatic protest against the Government spending ,£50,000 in entertaining the American Fleet. The mover said the navy existed for destructive purposes only, and was constituted of murderers. London, April 30. Mr Asquith states that the Budget will be delivered on Thursday next.
