THE PALMERSTON MAYORALTY.

We desire to congratulate Mr Jas. A. Nash on his being returned to the honourable position as the first citizen or Mayor of Palmerston North, one ot the Dominion’s leading provincial towns. It gives us great pleasure to do so became Mr Nash is an erstwhile Foxton boy, and Foxton naturally feels proud of his \ictory. During, the campaign he conducted himself as any honourable mau should do, and steered clear of personal abuse. As we have before stated, he possesses all the qualifications of a capable administrator, and backed by the support of the present Council, Palmerston’s public affairs should move forward as they have never done before. We wish him a successful term of office, and hope that yesterday’s victory will prove but a stepping stone to a higher position in the affairs of the Dominion at some future date.
