We remind the public of the annual meeting of the Foxtou Chamber of Commerce to be held in the Secretary’s office 10-moirow evening, at eight o’clock, when the annual report will be read, and a Council elected for the ensuing 12 months. During Mr Hennessy’s term of office as President, he has taken a very active part in the important question of a Harbour Board to govern the local port, and has been ably assisted in this direction by the members of the Council, J. Stevens, M.P., and Messrs Moore and Barnard, honorary solicitors to the Chamber. We have no doubt that Mr Heimessy will trace the history of this movement from its inception to the present stage, and therefore would urge every citizen who has the welfare of Foxton and its important port at heart, to make a point to be present, in order to strengthen the President’s hands in getting a Bill put through the House constituting the Board, during the early part of the coming session. The active part taken by the Chamber in this connection alone has more than justified its existence. Several other important matters also stand to its credit during the past year, and we hope that the coming j r ear may be even more successful than the one just closed, and that Mr Hennessy, the energetic President, may be prevailed upon to continue in office for another term.
