TENNIS EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE.
The above, which is now looked forward to as an annual function by Club members and their friends, took place in the Masonic Hall last evening, and was largely attended. The committee carried out their duties in a very thorough manner, and deserve special mention for their efforts. Progressive euchre was played till shortly after 10 o’clock. Miss Wanklyn was awarded the first prize for ladies and Mr Peireau annexed the gent’s prize. The “booby” prizes were awarded to Mis McMillan and Mi Walter Edwaids. Refreshments in abundance were handed round and partaken of. The floor was then cleared and dancing was indulged in till the early hours. Mr G. W. Morgan officiated as M.C. The music was supplied by Mr E. C. Bertbold, and gave every satisfaction.
Visitors were present from Shannon, Montoa and other districts.
Many of the dresses worn by the ladies were decidedly pietty and becoming. The only drawback to an otherwise successful dance was the preponderance of the fair sex, which it is hoped will not be the case next year.
The following is the committee which carried out the affair: Mesdames Phillips, C. Robinson O. E. Austin, Stewait, Misses Wanklyn, Ross, E. Symons, Messrs Phillips (secretary), Morgan, Macdonald, Fraser, and Gordon. The prizes won during the evening were presented in an appropriate manner by His Worship the Mayor (B. G. Gower Esq).
