A TOUCHING INCIDENT.

Dunedin, April 24. Mr M’Phee, father of the two boys who were drowned in the Otago Heads collision, states that the night was calm and clear. There was no reason to apprehend danger, but he and his wife remained on the lookout all Saturday night, and only heard the news at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Mr M’Phee added : “There’s one thing about it we shall always remember. Our youngest little chap was a regular bird for singing. He was always at it, and as the boat moved away from the jetty and the boys were saying good-bye this wee chap struck up one of the songs he had learned at the St. Clair school. Mother, good night, my work is done; I go to rest with the setting sun ; But not to wake with the morning light, So, dearest mother, a long good-night. “ Perhaps you know the song,” Mr M’Phee said, “it is about a dying boy, and as our little chap sang it his mother joined in and sang it with him.
