A MODEL YACHT.
The “ Aerial.”
There is on exhibition in Mr P. M. Page's auction mart, a model yacht, built by our respected townsman, Mr Andrew Jonson. It is needless to state that Mr Jonson is an old salt, and is an authority on the construction of any class of “wind jammers.” He spent many years on sailing vessels, under all conditions, and has bad much experience as a ship’s carpenter. He is a sailor of the old school. The model on view is built to scale, and is four feet from stem to stern, with a depth of one foot, and a lead keel of four inches. The model is barque rigged and perfect in detail, and an objectlesson to anyone interested in ships. Mr Jonson secured a first prize for the model against 25 competitors at Wanganui in 1887, and again at Palmerston in the same, year against 12 competitors. In 1886, Mr Jonsou sent her to Wellington to compete in the model yacht regatta, which, however, did not eventuate, much to Mr JOll- - disappointment. The model is the object of much admiration.
