THE AMERICAN FLEET.

Auckland, April 14. The following telegram has been received by the Mayor (Mr A. M. Myers) from the Prime Minister, who is at Roxburg, in reply to one sent by his Worship, regarding the action of the Government in reference to the visit of the American fleet“ In reply to your telegram the Government programme for entertaining the fleet will be considered when Ministers meet in Wellington next week, and I will advise you of our decision when 1 am in a position to do so. The hearty cooperation of the citizens of Auckland will be appreciated by the Government. For your information as to the number of vessels, this has been asked for and I am informed that 14 are coming, though this is not definite. I shall let you have any information I can later.”
