Miners to be Proceeded Against.
The Crown, having failed to obtain the payment of the fine imposed by the Arbitration Court on the Blackball Miners’ Union on April 7, instructions were issued to the Crown Prosecutor at Greymouth to take proceedings against the individual members of the Union. The Minister for Labour stated yesterday that this course is being followed as speedily as possible. Summonses are being issued, but as there are a large number of men concerned, the process has involved time. The matter was being dealt with under the regular Magistrate’s Court procedure, and the law would be carried out.
