RACING.
Sydney, April 14. Regret was expressed in sporting circles when the news was circulated that Elevation had gone lame, and that those who anticipated a great equine battle between the New Zealander and Mountain King were likely to be doomed to disappointment. Elevation had done a ding-dong mile with Castaway. The latter had a couple of lengths’ advantage at the start, but Elevation was a neck in front at the finish in 1 min. 45 sec. The New Zealander was found to be lame after the conclusion of the gallop.
