The Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 1908. THE LEVIN-GREATFORD LINK.
A wedi,-: nown local resident suggests that a conference of influential citizens from Devin, Foxton, Carnarvon and Bulls districts be held at an early date to discuss the advisability of urging upon the Cover 1 merit the necessity of linking the Main Trunk line with the Mauawatu via Devin, Foxton, Rongotea and Greatford. The suggestion is one that is likely to be carried out at an early date. The connecting link presents practically little or no engineering difficulties, and, apart altogether from the rich country it would pass through would mean a considerable saving in time between Auckland and Wellington. But we must agitate and, not allow the specious and ridiculous statements circulated by a certain journal to stand in the way. We shall, in a future issue, publish interesting information in reference to this subject which shall also reach every memr ber of the House, and be sent broadcast throughout the country.
