BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Works Committee was held in the Borough Council Chambers last night, when the clerk was instructed to order 300 yards of Palmerston metal, to be used on Baker and Howan Streets, and where' required.—lt was resolved to again write to Mr Stevens, M.P., drawing his attention to the fact that the winter is approaching and the Railway Department has not yet erected a verandah at the local railway station, and requesting him to again point out to the Department the necessity of erecting same. It was decided to point put to the member that the Council considers that this district has been unfairly treated by the Department through the long delay in carrying out necessary works at this important terminus. A resolution was passed to the effect that the attention of the Inspector of Noxious Weeds be drawn to the fact that Ike noxious weeds in, theSborough are still increasing and some decided action should be taken by him in the matter at once.
