COURT ROOM MOTTOES.
Toledo, Jahuary 25. Judge Austin has adopted the “ Golden Rule ” plan for dispensing justice in the Police Court. His first move was to have mottoes placed on the walls of the courtroom. Further touches of adornment were added by the installation of a large American flag and palms and other plants. Over the Bench is the motto, “ Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” Other mottoes on the walls are:— “A wrong confessed is half redressed.” “Men rise on the stepping stones of their dead selves to higher things.” “Honour and shame from no conditions rise. Act well your part; there all honour lies.” These mottoes are intended to have a guiding influence upon prisoners, attorneys, court attaches and juries. Judge Austin barred all minors and loafers from the courtroom. He has been dubbed the Golden Rule Judge.”
