GRAIN REPORT.
Mr F, Pownall, Wellington, representative ot the N.Z. and Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operattve Association, repoits as follows, under date of 12th inst.— Oats : Active demand existing in North Island for supplies available is restricting over-sea ventures, though Home reports are healthy. Crops far South are opening up slowly, to heavy threshings. B grade Danish rule at 2s 3d, S. Bills, Duns, and Gartons 2s 4d. Wheat ; Reflecting on London market, reaction has eventuated, prime milling hardening to 4s 4d. Merchants are operating with caution, with further advance imminent. Whole feed scarce 4s 2d, Broken 3s rod. Potatoes : Tasmanian crops are offering freely at £5 local grown £5 1 os. Outlook is for a weak season. Maize : Trade dull at 4s 6d. Barley : Sales of malting brisk at 5s 3d ; feed, quiet, 3s qd ; Cape, 3s 3d. Peas: White are enquired for at 5s 6d ; Partridge, over-held, 3s 6d. Bran : Temporarily firmer at £5 ss. Pollard : Still costs £6 ; stores bare. Oatmeal : Has touched bottom at ,£l4; Oatiua, 10s 6d. Chaef : North are firm at 95s s.e., South qos s.i. Cutting will repay above threshing this season. Tendency is upward. Oat-straw chaff, 555.
